Leadership Team Training & Development
All positions begin Saturday, June 11
Unit Leader Positions 6-8 weeks
Adults with Disabilites Unit Leader: 6 weeks
Youth Camp Unit Leader: 8 weeks
Day Camp Unit Leader: 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Camper & counselor supervision and motivation
- Create theme content
- Coordinate activities
Requirements
- Prior experience as a counselor is preferred.
- Current CPR and first aid certifications are desired.
- Previous camp staff experience and a desire & ability to work with youth, families, or individuals with disabilities in a camp setting.
- Ability to assist in scheduling both programs and staff.
- Ability and experience to supervise staff and campers.
Aquatics Coordinator 6-8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Create and supervise the aquatics program including safety, swim instruction and pool management.
Requirements
- Must be 21 or older.
- Must have current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid & WSI Certification
- Training and experience in waterfront activities and management
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff
- Desire and ability to work with campers of all ages
- Ability to relate to one’s peer group as well as other peer groups
- Readily accepts guidance and supervision
Creative Arts Coordinator 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Oversee art department by planning activities and overseeing counselors
- Teach skills in at least one of the arts areas
- Set up and maintain the art program areas
- Order art supplies and equipment
Requirements
- A strong desire and ability to teach campers of all ages and abilities in the creative arts
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
General Staff Training
Most positions begin Wednesday, June 15
Camp Positions
LDP Coordinator 5 weeks
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Camp Director to plan, implement, and evaluate the Leadership Development Program
- Work directly with our oldest youth campers and guide them as they learn leadership skills, develop life skills, and create friendships that last lifetimes
Requirements
- Strong leadership skills and self motivation
- Ability to develop schedules and supervise & mentor youth campers in an outdoor setting.
Counselor Between 2-7 Weeks
Youth Program, Individuals with Disabilities Program, Day Camp Program
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of youth and/or adults with disabilities
Requirements
- Counselors may be required to live in cabins with campers and lead evening devotions
- Desire to work with youth or adults with disabilities in a camp setting
- Ability to relate to one’s peer group and campers
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Training in various camp activities, including (but not limited to): lifeguarding, archery, sports, rock climbing/belaying, art, theater, and video production
Lifeguard/Swim Instructor 2-9 weeks
Responsibilities
- Work under the aquatics director to provide a safe, fun environment for all guests
- Lifeguarding supervision at the pool and during boating activities
- Assist in checking equipment and making or arranging for repairs
- Assist in inventory and keeping equipment in good condition
- Set up aquatic areas and perform routine safety checks
Requirements
- Current lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Desire to work with youth, adults with disabilities, and families in a camp setting
- Ability to relate to one’s peer group
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Horse Riding Instructor 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Work with and care for the Oceanwood Herd under the direction of the Horse Program Director and/or Senior Riding Instructor
- Create, implement, and carryover lesson plans for campers of all ages and abilities based on a schedule generated by the Summer Program Staff and the Horse Program Director
- Act as part-time counselor and assist in various camp-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous riding history and experience working in a barn setting required
- Previous horse lesson instruction required
- Must enjoy working with a wide array of ages, behaviors, skill sets and personalities
- Current CPR/FA certifications required (or a means to have certifications completed prior to start of camp)
- Additional horse industry certifications desired (e.g., CHA, PATH, etc.)
- Ability to accept guidance, constructive critique, and supervision from the Horse Program Director and Senior Riding Instructor
- Ability and comfortability of working outside in all elements with high temperatures, sun, rain, wind and insects
Junior Horse Riding Instructor 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Work with and care for the Oceanwood Herd under the direction of Horse Program Director and/or Senior Riding Instructor
- Assist in carrying over lesson plans for campers of all ages and abilities based on content developed by the Horse Program Director & Senior Riding Instructor
- Assist in barn duties alongside current working students and volunteers
- Assist with additional camp-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous riding history and barn work preferred
- Previous horse lesson instructing preferred; either as an apprentice or newly appointed instructor
- Must enjoy working with a wide array of ages, behaviors, skill sets and personalities
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision from a hierarchy of peers

Service & Care
Licensed RN or LPN 5 or 7 weeks
Youth & Family Programs 7 camper weeks
Individuals with Disabilities Program 5 camper weeks
Responsibilities
- Provide medical care for youth, senior adults, and adults with disabilities
- Administer medication, keep records, communicate w/parents and caretakers
Requirements
- Must be currently licensed as a registered Nurse or LPN in Maine
- Should have appropriate experience with children and/or adults with disabilities and the desire to work with both populations in a camp setting
- Ability to originate, update, and/or monitor heath care, maintain records, and implement the health care plan
- Desire to work in a camp community is a must
Kitchen Crew 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Assist in food prep of healthy and delicious meals for our guests
- Cleaning dishes and other kitchen equipment as needed
Requirements
- Desire to work in a camp kitchen and the abilities to learn to do tasks as assigned
- Ability to accept supervision and work well with others
- Previous experience in food service a plus
Housekeeping 8 weeks
Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of all bathrooms on site
- Daily straightening of public areas
- Weekly turnover of housing units
- Organization of cleaning supplies
